Show reference images in panel

I frequently use references when I’m drawing and currently have to either open images side-by-side or paste references in the file on a separate layer. I’ve been trying to create a customized panel for this purpose instead. That way, I can have my references sitting in a floating panel and not shrink my drawing window or waste layers.

When I was looking around to see how I’d go about making a panel for this purpose, Configurator came up, but I can’t figure out how to add that functionality to this extension for the life or me.
